Man arrested for killing mother, sister 4 years ago

Coimbatore : City police Sunday claimed to have solved a mysterious double murder of a woman and her daughter four years ago with the arrest of the woman’s son.

According to police, the case was reported on February 24, 2016, when a person, who came to withdraw money from ATM, noticed two charred bodies lying in an adjacent building on Avinashi Road in the heart of the City,.

Preliminary police investigation revealed that the bodies were burnt after they were killed. The two were identified as Papathi (67) and Geetha (43) who resided in the partially constructed double storied building along with the older woman’s son,39-year-old Saravanakumar.

The police department had been trying to trace Saravanakumar who was nabbed on lateSaturday night in Peelamedu area in the city.

During interrogation at the police station, Saravanakumar is said to have confessed that he killed his mother and sister in a fit of rage during some arguments and burnt their bodies..

Investigations are on to find out where all the accused had been roaming all these years even as Rs.32 lakh were found in his bank account..
