Man arrested for refusing to marry long-time girlfriend

A man was arrested today on charges of cheating and refusing to marry a woman with whom he was in love for the last five years.
Shanthi of Kuniyamuthur and Hemant Munithra of RS Puram in the city were working in different private firms in Chennai and fell in love five years ago, police said.
When Shanthi approached Hemant to marry her, he refused and returned to Coimbatore recently. However, Shanthi came to the city and repeatedly asked him to marry her and also told Hemant’s father about the relationship, they said.
But both father and son refused to accept her request and Shanti lodged a complaint with the All Women Police Station, which registered cases against father and son.
Hemant was arrested, while a manhunt is on for the father.
