Man poisons teenaged children, commits suicide

A man today poisoned his two teenaged children before committing suicide by consuming poison in his house in Edayarpalayam on the outskirts.
As the house of 56-year old Rajendran was found closed till long in the morning, neighbours knocked and peeped through the window to find him, his son and daughter lying on the floor and immediately informed police.
Police who rushed to the spot broke open the door and found the 16-year old son and 14-year old daughter dead and Rajendran struggling for life, they said.
Even though Rajendran was taken to the Government hospital, he died on admission, they said.
Though the reason behind this extreme step was not yet ascertained, unconfirmed reports suggested that Rajendran was upset over his second wife deserting him, police said.
