Marathon in Tirupur for women safety awareness on March 18

Coimbatore: Kavitha’s Ini Oru Vidhi Seivom Trust is organising a 5-km marathon ‘Womanathon’ in Tirupur to create awareness about woman and child safety.
The marathon on March 18 will start from Chikkanna Government College Tirupur at 6 am.
A statement said the ‘Run for her with her’ was the theme of the marathon. Trust founder Kavitha Janarthanan said this was the first event being done for woman safety and education of girl child in Tirupur.
“There is a crime being committed against women every minute. It happens everywhere. Though women have been successful in different walks of lives, they still have a fear of being prey to such harassment. I wanted to create awareness for woman safety and empowerment. Men and women will run together to show their support and take a pledge against women harassment,” she added.
Those interested could register at kiovstrust.org. The registration fee is Rs. 400 and the participants would get T-shirts, medals, certificates and breakfast.
