More than 2,000 lawyers today boycotted the court proceedings in Coimbatore, demanding, among other things, the filling up of vacant posts of judges all over Tamil Nadu.

Litigants and defendants who had come to the courts returned disappointed as the courts did not function at all today.

The lawyers’ demands also included withdrawal of false cases filed against the lawyers and a stipend of Rs.5,000 per month for young lawyers for the first three years of their enrollment.
