The next time you drive or ride from Ukkadam to Athupalam, you will be surprised to spot greenery on this stretch. Volunteers of city-based NGO, MC3, have planted about 2,500 flowering plants along the median of this National Highway. Abdul Hakkim, Aravind Shekar, and G. Arun Kumar participated in this initiative along with the volunteers.

The project is being funded by the city-based corporate house, Zimson Watches, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

“We have in the past supported several community-based initiatives. This is the first time that we, as a corporate house, are getting involved in a project that will benefit the society at large. We have plans of supporting society-oriented projects in the future as well. We hope to inspire other corporate houses to participate in such CSR projects,” Imran Khan, Zimson Watches, Coimbatore, said. Zimson Watches did not revealed the amount spent on this initiative.

My City Clean City (MC3), the city-based NGO was founded by C. Kishore in 2014, inspired by Ugly Indians, the Bengaluru-based NGO that works towards making the city beautiful. Since its inception, MC3 continues to implement projects that are aimed towards making Coimbatore beautiful and better.
