Southern Railway has cancelled the services of Nilgiris Mountain Rail (NMR) between Mettupalayam and Coonoor, following heavy landslide between stations, for three days from today.

The Heritage train, a major attraction for tourists, starts from Mettupalayam at 7.10 a.m. and reaches Coonoor around 10 a.m., en route Udhagamandalam.

Earlier in the day, Railways had announced the cancellation of services only for today, following heavy landslide between Hillgrove and Kallar Stations. However, due to big boulders falling on the track, the restoration works will take more than 48 hours and in view of this, the services are cancelled till December 17, the sources said.

However, trains services between Coonoor and Udhagamandalam will be operated as usual, they said.
