Vital organs of a brain dead mill worker were harvested for three patients – two in Coimbatore and one in Chennai – today.

Angusamy (54) met with an accident two days back when he was getting back from Tiruppur. With a severe head injury he was rushed to a private hospital, from where he was shifted to Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH) the next day.

As he did not respond to treatment and condition worsened, doctors declared him brain dead last evening. Following counselling from doctors, his wife Poongothai consented to donate his organs and accordingly his kidneys were harvested on two needy patients at the KMCH and his heart was sent to Fortis Malar in Chennai.
