Y’s Men’s Club will organise a mini marathon here on February 21 to increase awareness about blood and organ donation.

Last year too the NGO organised a similar marathon. “Prior to the marathon our database of blood doners was just 500. Post the marathon we had 1,200 donors,” R. Selvakumar, President, Y’s Men’s Club, says.

This year too, this club aims at strengthening its database of blood and organ donors through this mini marathon.

It will be flagged off by Gobinath Chandran, host of Star Vijay debate show Neeya Naana. The mini marathon has one only run category – the eight-and-a-half kilometre run. The race is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. from Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT). Runners will pass through CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, Vilankurichi Road and end again at CIT.

There is no registration fee. The first three men and women who finish the marathon will be awarded with a cash prize. All runners who finish the mini marathon will be awarded with a certificate.
