Sandinala, on the outskirts of this tourist town, today recorded minus three degree Celsius, even as the residents and tourists remained indoor till 1030 AM due to biting cold, following heavy fog in the surrounding areas.

The temperature read minus three in the meter placed at the Sandinala power station, which was a record in the recent years, official sources said.

The area recorded minus one three years ago, they said.

As a result of heavy fog, a white carpet of frost was formed on roads and tops of trees and vehicles in the town, with photographers vying to take pictures and owners and cab drivers had tough time to start their vehicle due to freezing of diesel.

Tourists, who are in hotels and also arrived in the morning were found shivering in the biting cold and have come out only after 10.30 AM, they said.
