MJK protests against slaughter law

The Manitheneya Janayaka Kanchi here staged protests against the recently passed Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

The protestors, including children, marched towards Central railway station and tried to break police barricade and enter station headquarters.

They demand rollback of the Act and urged the State Government to follow Kerala and protest against this law.

Protest leader Farroq Rasheed accused that the Centre of trying to help MNCs and leather companies and wanted to know what regulations had been introduced in the leather industry or export sector.

He accused the Centre of trying to propagate RSS agenda through this law and creating communal disharmony. The protesters attempted to burn in effigy the Prime Minister.

He added that the rule would create more problems for farmers who were reeling under drought conditions.
