More than 40,000 movie DVDs seized

Following a string of complaints, officials of the Video Piracy Cell and the City Police have seized 47,331 Digital Video Discs (DVD) from various CD shops in Coimbatore.
According to sources, officials conducted random searches of the shops in areas including Singanallur, Ukkadam, and kavundampalayam. They have seized new movie DVDs worth more than Rs. 47 lakhs.
Cases have also been registered against the shop owners for illegal possession and sale of DVDS.
