A new study has found that short spells of high intensity exercise are most effective in controlling type-2 diabetes and in improving the heart condition. The duration could be as short as two minutes.
Patients with Type-2 diabetes are very likely to develop heart complications. The study, conducted by Newcastle University, measured the effect of short spells of intense workouts on diabetes and the heart. It found that such exercise routines strengthens the left ventricle which gets badly affected by type-2 diabetes.
Worldwide, about 382 million people suffer from diabetes. India is the diabetes capital of the world, with urban population being more prone to this lifestyle disease than those who live in the rural areas. Changes in lifestyle, including regular exercise routines and stress-management, is essential to control the disease.
