Spirituality and special occasions continue to unite the several Jain families who have made Coimbatore their home. A few members of the Jain community have joined hands and have formed the Munisuvrat Jain Trust.

The trust came into being this year and has 40 core members. As a debut project of this trust, the members are constructing the Munisuvrat Jain temple in Coimbatore. “We have acquired land in a housing colony in Ponnurajpuram. The foundation stone has been laid and construction work is in progress in full swing,” Ashok Mehta, president of Munisuvrat Jain Trust, shares.

The temple when completed will measure about 5,000-square feet. We are told that the Munisuvrat Jain temple will be open to public by the following year.

The core members of the trust are also founders of the Annakshetram Trust. The volunteers of the trust cook and serve healthy breakfasts to the inmates of orphanage homes in Coimbatore. The trust, funded by its core members who are prominent Jains, has also purchased a vehicle for its activities. Each day, freshly prepared healthy breakfast is delivered by volunteers of Annakshetram Trust. This, we are told, has been happening for several years now.
