Police have arrested two persons early in the morning today, and are searching for the other two, for attempting to murder a real estate businessman. Business rivalry is suspected to be the motive behind the attempt.
According to police, the duo, accompanied by businessman Dandayuthapani and his accomplice, had followed 56-year-old Veerasamy last night around 10.30 PM at Ramanathjapuram. They were planning to murder him.
But Veerasamy sensed trouble and ran for safety. Two persons, identified as Dhanraj and Dhanakumar, chased and stabbed him from behind. Veerasamy began to bleed profusely and began to scream for help. Hearing his cries, passersby rushed him to a private hospital. When the gang noticed that a crowd had gathered around their intended victim, they escaped.
Police, who rushed to the spot, managed to nab the duo, who was hiding behind a building. Search is on for Dandayuthapani and Sureshkumar, his accomplice.
