After a gap of four days, the Nilgiris Mountain Rail (NMR) heritage train resumed service today.

The NMR was cancelled on December 15 due to heavy landslide with big boulders falling on track between Hillgrove and Adderly stations. The restoration works of rack and pinion system track up to Coonoor was completed yesterday and the Southern Railway announced the resumption of the services from today.

Accordingly, the NMR left Mettupalayam near here at 7.10 am, carrying about 150 passengers, railway sources said. The track was clear and the train reached Coonoor around 10.15 am.
