Irked by the badly-managed distribution of water in their area, the residents of Puliyakulam staged a road roko near the Vinayagar Temple near Puliyakulam in Coimbatore, on Wednesday.

According to one of the residents, the people residing in Ward 69 and 70 have not been receiving drinking water for the past ten days.

“Such things have become common in our area. There is always a shortage of water here. If we receive water today, it will be another 12 days before water is supplied to us again. This is not so in other areas including Race Course and R.S. Puram,” one of the residents said.

He further added that despite regular complaints, the issue has not been addressed, and claimed that things will become worse with the summer already here.

The residents staged a road roko and all attempts made by the police to pacify them turned futile. The police had to eventually bring the MLA of the constituency to pacify the crowd, who dispersed only after the administration assured that water will be distributed soon.
