Notorious bootlegger jailed

Thanjavur: A 57-year-old notorious prohibition offender, Balu alias Balakrishnan, son of Chelladurai and resident of Raasiyankadu South, Pattukottai taluk, was detained under the Bootlegger Act on the orders of Collector A Annadurai.
Based on the recommendations made by superintendent of police J Mahesh and relevant criminal documents furnished by Inspector C Anjali Devi of Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW), Collector Annadurai ordered the detention. Subsequently, he was lodged at the central prison in Trichy.
