MDMK general secretary and PWF coordinator alleges hundreds of crores of Rupees stashed away at a bungalow frequented by chief minister.

MDMK general secretary and PWF coordinator Vaiko has trained his guns on the AIADMK alleging serious charges against chief minister Jayalalithaa of hoarding huge sums of money at her Siruthavur bungalow in neighboring Kanchipuram district.

Vaiko came out with his allegations at a public meeting in Tiruneveli on Monday evening, saying that the AIADMK supremo was sitting on a huge pile of hard cash transported to her bungalow in trucks. The currency notes, in denominations of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 were stashed away in the bungalow premises, the MDMK leader alleged.

He also formally made a complaint to the chief election commissioner, TN chief electoral officer and the TN DGP in a letter and urged them to carry out a probe into the whole affair of money stashed in the bungalow, where Jayalalithaa frequently visits.

The money in that bungalow could be over Rs 2000 crore he alleged and said there were unconfirmed reports of underground bunkers in that bungalow complex where the money could be hidden.

His attack against Jayalalithaa is being seen by political analysts as his attempt to blunt criticisim that he was behaving like the B team of AIADMK and that he himself was helping Jayalalithaa.

Vaiko also alleged that money was being transported in containers (trucks) to the bungalow. On Monday at least 10 lorries entered the bungalow, he said.

DMK treasurer and former deputy chief minister MK Stalin also demanded a thorough and impartial inquiry into the whole issue that has now come out openly in the public domain. The AIADMK however dismissed Vaiko’s charges as “silly statements”

Its spokesperson CR Saraswathy said that everyday Vaiko is making one silly statement or the other, to remain in news and get publicity. “I deny the charges as absolutely basesless,” she said adding “people are not voting for money. They will be voting for Amma for what all she has done for them.”
