Noyyal overflows, low lying areas in Tiruppur submerged

Low lying areas in Tiruppur were submerged following overflowing water from the Noyyal river. Many check dams in Noyyal are overflowing.

A bridge between Poolavari Sugumar Nagar and Karumarampalayam in Tiruppur remained totally submerged.

Heavy rains, that have been lashing Coimbatore district, has improved the water level in many reservoirs.

Water level at the Siruvani Dam stood at 35 feet as against the full level of 50 feet, while the level at Pillur Dam went up to 92.25 feet as against the full level of 100 feet. Water level in the Aliyar Dam touched 78 feet as against the full level of 120 feet.

In the last 24 hours, Coimbatore district received 100 mm rainfall.

In many places, power supply has been disconnection as a precaution. Rain water and sewage water seeped into many houses at Velampatti area.
