The members of the Tamil Nadu Government Nurses Association have announced a protest against the new pension plan that will soon be implemented on them. They have also said that their stir will intensify if the government fails to take action.

More than 150 nurses of the Tamil Nadu Government Nurses Association protested in front of the Coimbatore Government Hospital. They had put forth three main demands, including revocation of the new pension plan.

R. Daisiya, president of the Coimbatore branch of the nurses association, led the protests. K. Rekha and M. Jhansi, the secretary and treasurer respectively of the association, were also present at the protests. The president, in her speech, said that the three-day long protest will be carried out without affecting their routines at the hospital. But she had warned that they will go on a hunger strike from February 22 onwards if the government turned a deaf ear to their demands.
