One held for selling banned tobacco products

One person was arrested yesterday for possessing banned tobacco products and was later released on bail. The accused was selling banned tobacco products in his petty shop.

The accused Soundarrajan runs a petty shop opposite Mahaliamman Koil Street near MNG Street. Police found 10 Hans, 30 ‘Shanthi’, 10 Gold Flake and eight Ganesh packets.

A case was registered under Section 24 of the Cigarette and Other Tobbaco Products Act, 2003. He was later released on bail.

Similar cases and arrests have got reported during the week and City police Commissioner A Amalraj said the department has been conducting regular checks and offenders will be dealt with strictly.
