One killed, 4 injured as bull runs berserk

COIMBATORE: One person was killed and four others sustained injuries when a bull ran berserk among the spectators at a Jallikkattu near Salem, reportedly organised without prior permission.

According to police, the jallikkattu was organised at Nakiampatti near Athur in Salem district with the participation of over 100 tamers and some bulls.

As excitement reached its peak, a bull suddenly came out of the arena and went berserk into spectators and attacked a 25-year old youth, identified as Surya, resulting in serious injury on stomach part.

Surya was rushed to the Athur Government Hospital, where he died. Four more persons were admitted with injuries in the hospital.

Even before police arrived at the scene, the event was stopped and further investigations are on.
