Ooty: The temperature in and around Udhagamandalam dipped to minus two degree early this morning, with frost covering almost all the areas, damaging tea leaves.

People stepped out only after 8.30 a.m. as the biting cold forced them to stay indoors.

The weather meter in the power house in Sandinalla recorded minus two degree in this town, Sandinalla, Glenmorgan and Thalakunda areas, TNEB sources said.

Tea leaves are likely to be damaged due to the heavy frost in around 15 to 20 km surroundings, which normally record a 18 to 20 degree celsius.
