Painter dies lighting cigarette

A painter died of burn while trying to light a cigarette from a candle in his house in Karumathampatti in the rural limits.
According to police, Balasubramaniam (35), before lighting the cigarette, had applied a thinner on his hands and legs to remove the paint. When he lit the cigarette a spark erupted and it spread to his hands and legs instantly.
Hearing his screams, neighbours rushed him to the Government Hospital, where he succumbed.
