Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi on Wednesday and discuss various issues pertaining to the State.

The Chief Minister’s visit assumes significance as it comes few days after AIADMK rebel leader and former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam met Modi and appealed to him to release more funds for solving water crisis in the State.

Union Urban Development Minister and senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu, on May 14, had called on Palaniswami at the Secretariat. Though the meeting was termed official, AIADMK sources said Naidu’s move was the first step to get the party’s support in the Presidential elections.

There are 122 MLAs in the AIADMK faction led by Palaniswami. Also, out of 59 AIADMK MPs, 50 belong to the Chief Minister’s faction.

The value of each MLA’s vote is 176 and that of all party MPs is 708.
