Public, mainly bus passengers, today detained six State-owned buses for about one hour near K G Chavadi, protesting against irregular services of buses on the route.

About 500 passengers squatted near a bus stop on Coimbatore-Palakkad Main Road and detained six buses belonging to State Transport Corporation.

As the officials from both police and transport departments rushed to the spot, the public complained that the buses on the route were not plying regularly, affecting the office goers and school going children, particularly in the morning hours.

Moreover, some buses were in poor condition and broke down for repairs frequently, putting people into a lot of hardship, they claimed.

Officials managed to convince the agitators and assured to provide prompt service,
after which they dispersed.
