Kinathukidavu resident S. Veeran has filed a petition with the district administration seeking protection from caste Hindu families in the vicinity who, he says, have been constantly harassing him.

Veeran is the district secretary of the Adhi Tamilar Peravai and has been living with his family at Thamaraikulam in Kinathukidavu for a good number of years. In his petition, he says that his neighbours, reportedly belonging to caste Hindu communities have been harassing him asking him to leave the area. Not being able to withstand the pressure, he had filed a complaint with Kinathukidavu police then.

Since no action was taken and the harassment continued even after filing complaints with the district police for the last two years, he was forced to file the petition before the Collector, he said.

Veeran came to the collectorate on Monday with copies of all his previous complaints and submitted them to District Collector T.N. Hariharan.

Kinathukidavu police station officials were not available for comment.
