Members of the Beef Eaters Welfare Association (BEWA) petitioned the District Collector Archana Patnaik seeking severe actions against the members of the Kongu Ilaignar Peravai who were involved in an armed attack on Monday.

As many as ten Kongu Ilaignar Peravai members were arrested on October 29 for assaulting medical representatives and public with iron rods and machetes near their office after a tussle broke out between them and the medical representatives for parking their two wheelers. Four people were injured in the incident which created a panic in the area.

Condemning the attack, BEWA members have stated that severe actions should be taken against the attackers and they should be booked under the Goondas Act.

“It was a barbaric attack and those involved should be severely punished,” said A. Munusamy, the president of BEWA. He further added that the District Administration should curb such incidents in the future and make sure that Coimbatore remains a peaceful place.
