Petitioning the district administration over the illegal dumping of domestic waste by a private apartment near Munusamy Nagar in Ramanathapuram here, residents of the area staged a plastic mask protest in the District Collectorate here on Monday.

According to C Kathiravan, a resident of nearby Kamaraj Nagar, the Triumph Apartments building administrative staff has been repeatedly dumping domestic wastes outside their compound wall. “The waste even after being repeatedly dumped was not cleared immediately by the administration and the litter caused a huge hindrance to the public in the vicinity,” he added.

He further alleged that the apartment administration has also been illegally dumping sewage waste in the storm water drainage.

“We request that the administration take necessary actions against the management,” said Kathiravan.

In addition, the members have requested the administration to repair roads and street lights in the area nearby.
