A social activist has a serious grievance against the whole exercise of Grievance Day.

P Manikadan today in a request to the District Collector has sought action against officials who fail to respond to Grievance Day petitions and take necessary actions.

He alleged that he had been filing petitions against various social issues at the District Collectorate and there has been no response. “I would have filed at least 300 petitions at the District Collectorate. But till date, I haven’t received any response from the district administration regarding action taken,” he said.

According to rules, a petitioner has to receive reply in 15 days. But, he has received replies for only 10 petitions.

Manikandan also said that the district administration also failed to take action on RTI applications. “According to RTI rules, you can submit an RTI application to the office or to the Collector’s PA who has to forward it to the office concerned in five days. It has been over 30 days, and I am yet to receive any response for any of my applications,” he said.

Manikandan has requested District Collector TN Hariharan to take action against the authorities. The Collector was quick to respond and has asked officials to give replies and take necessary action.
