Plea to prevent Kerala from building check dams across Bhavani

The Coimbatore chapter of Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam has urged the administration to initiate steps to prevent Kerala Government from building check dams across the Bhavani river.
In a petition to District Collector T.N. Hariharan, the association said the Tamil Nadu Government should stop Kerala from building check dams at Padavayal, Sadavayal, Sirakadavu and Salaiyur. “If Kerala builds check dams across Bhavani river, people of Kongu region will be deprived of water. Livestock and agriculture will also be affected,” S. Palanisami, President of the Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam, Coimbatore chapter, said.
He also appealed to the PWD officials to inspect the place and submit a report to the Government on the current status.
