Plea to raise the bund of Kuruchi wetland

In order to safeguard Kuruchi wetland from getting polluted and to safeguard the ecosystem in the lake, members of the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) have petitioned the District Collector Archana Patnaik to raise the bunds of the lake situated near Kuruchi, here, on Monday.
Alleging that the bund level on a same level with the road, the members have stated that this would cause accidents in the area. “The bund should be raised 10 feet above the road level and should be fortified with a wall,” one of the members said.
The members have also requested the District Administration to clear the lake of water hyacinth. Other demands include widening of Kuruchi Road to avert accidents and a walkers’ path around the lake.
