In order to regularise the registration of new constructions in the added areas of the Coimbatore Corporation, the Social Awareness Movement today petitioned the District Administration to review the credibility of sites registered in these regions.

According to J.D. Socrates, unregistered constructions in the added areas were allegedly being cleared by the officials even without checking their registrations. He further alleged that despite not holding proper registration certificates, the constructions are still flouting the norms, adding that only a proper review of their registration papers can help regularise the process.

“People are still flouting the norms in these areas, and it has become a common scenario for even those who start new constructions to continue without registrations. Even officials fail to check, these” he claimed.

Claiming that such activities result in the loss of revenue for the city corporation, he urged the District Collector T.N. Hariharan to take necessary action.
