The People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) is all set to stage a massive demonstration against attaining criticality of second unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP), in Palayamkottai, on July 16.

When there was no proper response from the authorities about the first unit of the project, the criticality of the second unit, reportedly tomorrow was condemnable, PMANE Coordinator, S.P. Udayakumar said in a press release in Coimbatore today.

Condemning the attitudes of the centre and state governments, he said that they were not heeding to the apprehensions and sentiments of the people of the area.

PMANE has planned to bury a time capsule, containing the evils of nuclear energy, the names of the leaders and parties who were responsible for it, and details of the protests against the power plants, for the knowledge and benefit of the coming generation, he said.

Udayakumar also urged the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to compel the centre to not to go ahead with three to six units of KNPP.
