Police hold awareness meet on Maoist activities

More than 400 residents of tribal areas in and around Thudiyalur area participated in a programme for awareness about Maoist activities. The programme was conducted by the Coimbatore District police and Central Rotary Club of Coimbatore on Sunday.

Sports kits like cricket bats and balls, football, volley ball, badminton and tennikoit kits and skipping material were distributed among 15 village youths.

“Maoists will approach you and try to spread false messages about government. It is against law. Do not get carried away by them and their approach,” a senior official told participants.

Top police, NSD, STF and forest officials from Periyanaickenpalayam and Thudiyalur were present at the programme.
