Police on look out for woman who left girl baby in temple

Police are on the look out for a woman, who left a two-month-old baby girl in temple premises in Pollachi five days ago.The authorities of Mariamman temple noticed the baby lying alone in the temple on September 22 and handed over the baby to police station.

After waiting for another few hours for claimant, police handed over the baby to a childcare home in Kinathukadavu, even as search was on for the woman.The footage in the CCTV camera in the temple showed a young girl, leaving the child near the sanctum sanatorium, police said.

A few minutes later a man with a beard comes near the woman, weeping uncontrollably and after much persuasion from him, both leave the place, leaving the child, they said.Based on the footage, police are investigating, they said.
