The City Police would set up 22 check points in two main roads in the City – Avinashi Road and Trichy Road – to prevent rash driving during New Year eve.

The police today held a meeting with owners of private bars and hotels, where New Year parties would be held, and urged them to make alternate arrangements for their customers to stay back after the party or ensure their safe journey back homes.

“In order to make the new year with zero fatal accidents, 22 check points would be set up at Trichy Road and Avinashi Road, where rash and drunken drivers would be caught. Ambulances would be kept ready at various parts of the city,” S. Lakshmi Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, said.
