Police to act tough against youth involved in wheelies

The City Traffic Police would take stern action against those who perform wheelies stunt on roads. They have sought public cooperation in nabbing youth who are involved in such acts. A drive would be launched this week-end to curb such activities.

Giving details, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic), S.Saravanan, said the police department has been receiving several complaints about youth going at a very high speed performing wheelies stunt for fun and to gain attention, especially during weekends. “It has been brought to our notice that many youth are involved in such activities especially in areas such as Race Course,Trichy Road and Avinashi Road for fun. The department would launch a drive in the three areas this weekend,” he said.

Severe action would be taken against such youth, he added.

Members of the public could pass on information on such incidents through Whatsapp on 81900-00100 or 100. They have also urged the public to send images and other details in the above mentioned number.
