Police to identify trouble-prone areas and form QRTs

Coimbatore : Special DGP (L and O) Vijayakumar Saturday instructed police officials to identify the places which are trouble-porne and to form adequate Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) to ensure smooth conduct of poll process and maintenance of public order and tranquility during the period.

VIjayakumar reviewed poll preparedness with the senor police officials of Coimbatore range and Tirupur city, including IGP West Zone, DIG Coimbatore Range, City police commissioners and Superintendents of Police of Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode and Nilgiris districts.

During the review, he also instructed the officials to identify the sources of threat, intimidation, persons likely to act in a prejudicial manner to maintenance of law and order and initiate preventive measures.

The issuance of non-bailable warrants also came up for discussion, even as 1,985 such warrants were executed while 27 remained to be executed on 27 persons who were absconding.

With regard to vulnerable and critical polling locations, the official asked the police personnel to monitor 1,342 areas considering certain parameters and past incidents.
