Polio drops administered to more than 3 lakh children

The district administration on Sunday administered polio drops to more than 3 lakh children in Coimbatore.

The administration’s target was 3.38 lakh children in the district, but officials managed to vaccinate 3,20,397 children against polio, which is more than 97 percent of the target. As many as 1,86,182 children were given the vaccines in the urban parts of the district, and 1,30,705 in the rural areas, achieving 99.01 and 98.83 percent target respectively.

The administration also administered the vaccine to more than 95 percent of the children of migrant labourers from North India. They had planned to administer 1469 kids with polio drops.

Meanwhile, the Nilgiris district has also planned to administer polio vaccine to 46394 children under the age of five, at 770 centres which are set up all over the district.
