The Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, Bengaluru, S.K. Mittal has sent in his authorisation for operating passenger train services on the newly laid 54.72 km broad gauge line of Pollachi Junction-Palakkad Town stations at a maximum speed of 80 kmph.

The Commissioner, along with a team from various departments of Southern Railway had conducted safety inspection on this line for two days and informed that his report would be submitted within a fortnight.

The Commissioner had communicated his authorisation for operating passenger train services to Palakkad Division, under which both the stations come, a Southern Railway
release said.

However, this would be subject to technical stipulations, which were to be complied with

before trains run in this section, the release said.
