Prisoner attempts suicide by slitting throat in central jail

Coimbatore : A prisoner today attempted suicide by slitting his throat in the cell of Central Jail here.
The 35-year old Arunkumar was lodged in the prison in connection with murder a few months ago, police said.
The other inmates of the cell found him dejected and did not move with him, they said.
The inmates noticed Arunkumar lying in a pool of blood with his throat slit with a blade this afternoon and on information the Jail officials rushed him to the Government Hospital here, where he is being treated. Further investigations are on.
