Protest against hiked excise duty on petrol

In a novel protest, seeking to withdraw the increased excise duty on petrol and diesel, some workers, belonging to Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam (TPDK) today brought a two-wheeler on a stretcher and kept it in front of the District Collectorate.
The scooterette on the stretcher symbolised the “death of two-wheelers” in view of the hike, the workers wanted to prove on Grievances’ Day.
The workers raised slogans against the Centre and sought the reduction of excise duty and also in price of petrol and diesel.
