Expressing disappointment over the Railway Budget, a group of agitators demonstrated in front of the Coimbatore Railway Station in the evening today.

Stating that no demands, including funds to improve infrastructure of the railway station and a train connecting Coimbatore and Bengaluru on a daily basis, were fulfilled, the agitators protested by tying a black ribbon on their mouths. Another demand was that all the trains that passed through Coimbatore to Kerala should stop at Coimbatore Junction instead of passing through Podanur.

P.R. Natarajan, former Member of Parliament, the organiser of the agitation, said: “in spite of 47 MPs representing Tamil Nadu at the Parliament, they did not take initiatives to ensure benefits for Tamil Nadu”.

The agitators said that they would continue to protest until their demands were fulfilled.
