Residents of Thirumurugan Nagar are up in arms against a move to shift a Tasmac outlet to their area.

In a petition to District Collector T.N. Hariharan, residents of Thirumurugan Nagar, Rajeshwari Nagar, Ganakasal Nagar, JRD Residential Colony, Balu Residential Colony and Palathurai have said that the shifting of the outlet in the neighbourhood to their area will create law and order problems.

“We have been residing in the area for a very long time without any problem and the setting up of a Tasmac outlet will sabotage the peace here,” said one of them.

Their petition said that there were two educational institutions in the area which is also home to more than 20 farming families. According to sources, it has been proposed to shift the Tasmac outlet 1761 from Madukkarai Bypass Road to Thirumurugan Nagar.
