Public thwart attempt to demolish park

People of the Neelikonampalayam area in the city today successfully prevented the Corporation officials from demolishing a park.
Residents took strong objection when officials, along with workers, started removing the equipment from the Chemmozhi Park that was set up eight years ago.
On information, DMK MLA N. Karthik too joined and persuaded the officials not to proceed. He said the park was being targeted as it was set up by the DMK government.
The corporation has proposed to construct a health centre in the place.
