Pvt bus conductor’s license suspended for abusing passenger

COIMBATORE: The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) on Thursday suspended the licence of a private bus conductor for allegedly abusing a passenger for seeking the balance of tickets, while travelling to Mettupalayam a month ago.

According to police, Jayakumar who boarded the bus from Periyanaickenpalayam on the outskrits, paid Rs. 50 and took two tickets valued at Rs. 26 for Mettupalayam and sought the balance.

As the conductor, Sheikh Farid delayed to give the balance, Jayakumar continuously reminded him of the money. As Farid paid the money after reaching Mettupalayam and there was wordy quarrel between the two, police said.

Tense moments prevailed, when the driver also joined the conductor and started abusing in front of the public. Jayakumar immediately filed a complaint with police and also RTO in Mettupalayam.

Based on the complaint, RTO Thiagarajan carried out an inquiry and ordered suspension of licence of Farid for one month till March 13, they said.
