PWF partners disgruntled with Vijayakant, says BJP

Vanati Srinivasan, the BJP Tamil Nadu unit vice president, said that not all was fine in the Peoples Welfare Front camp, after announcing Vijayakanth as the chief ministerial candidate.

Following an intense backlash from jewellers and goldsmiths all over the country over the BJP-led government’s decision to impose one per cent tax on gold ornaments, , said that she will take up the issue. The BJP had said that the decision was made in order to curb the circulation of black money.

Vanati is the BJP candidate for Coimbatore South constituency, which also has a sizeable population depending on gold business. She was speaking to the reporters at the launch of the grievance website for the voters of the constituency. She accused the current ruling party MLA of neglecting the development and requirements of the constituency.

Claiming that the prospects of the BJP were bright in the state, Vanati said that the Peoples Welfare Front (PWF) has no concrete policies. She also said that resentment was brewing in the alliance following the declaration of Vijayakanth as the chief ministerial candidate.
