Quack arrested in Thanjavur

Thanjavur: A quack, who was a BA graduate but had been practicing Allopathy was arrested here today.

Based on a tip-off, Joint Director of Medical Services I S Jeyasekar along with a team of officials conducted a surprise raid at the clinic run by S Raja (42) at Kollupettai in Keezha Vaasal area in the city, conducted an enquiry and verified Raja’s educational certificates.

Raja produced a medical registration certificate issued by the Tamil Nadu Board of Indian Medicine, Chennai on September 29, 1995 to prove that he was a registered practitioner of Ayurveda. Upon verification, the certificate was found to be invalid.

Further, it was discovered that Raja had studied BA but had been practising Allopathy for several years. The team also seized Allopathy drugs and syringes from the clinic.

Subsequently, he was handed over to the police. Based on a complaint by the Joint Director of Medical Services, Thanjavur East police registered a case and arrested Raja.
